Australia’s gambling regulator has expanded its enforcement campaign against offshore gambling by directing internet service providers to block access to 12 additional unlicensed gambling and affiliate websites.
The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) said the action follows investigations that found the operators were breaching the country’s Interactive Gambling Act 2001 by offering illegal gambling services to Australian consumers.
The latest websites targeted by the regulator are 7Signs, ChromaBet, Donbet, Duospin, Freshbet, Slots Gem, Jacks Club, Lucky Start, Pointsbetz.com, Spinrise, Vinyl Casino and Wildsino.
ACMA noted that Pointsbetz.com was designed to imitate the licensed Australian betting brand PointsBet, raising additional concerns over potential consumer confusion.
Website blocking remains one of ACMA’s primary enforcement tools against offshore gambling operators. The regulator said illegal gambling sites often attempt to reappear under new web addresses, prompting continuous monitoring and further blocking requests when necessary.
According to ACMA, more than 230 illegal gambling services have withdrawn from the Australian market since strengthened enforcement measures were introduced in 2017. Since website blocking began in November 2019, authorities have ordered the blocking of more than 1,750 illegal gambling and affiliate websites.
The regulator continues to encourage Australian consumers to verify whether an online gambling operator is licensed before placing bets, warning that offshore sites operate outside Australia’s consumer protection framework and may leave players without legal safeguards if disputes arise.
