CIRSA Extends Growth Streak to 73rd Yearly Milestone as World Cup Fuels Record Online Expansion

CIRSA continued its long-running growth momentum in the second quarter of 2026, posting its 72nd consecutive quarter of year-on-year expansion as the FIFA World Cup delivered a major lift to the group’s online betting business.

The Spanish gambling operator reported Q2 net revenue of €637m, an increase of 10.1% compared with the same period last year. Adjusted net profit surged 55% to €75m, while EBITDA improved from €186.8m to €202m.

For the first six months of 2026, CIRSA generated €1.26bn in net revenue, representing annual growth of 9.1%. EBITDA for the period reached €396m, up 8.4% year-on-year.

The company’s sports betting division benefited significantly from the early stages of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Although the tournament had only reached the Round of 32 by the end of June, it had already become a key driver of customer acquisition, particularly in Spain, where the national team’s successful campaign boosted betting activity.

Sports betting turnover rose 10.8% during the quarter, while CIRSA’s online business delivered results well above expectations. Organic online net revenue increased 14.9% in Q2, and online turnover for the first half of the year climbed 22.4%.

The tournament also produced a sharp increase in customer activity across CIRSA’s digital platforms. First-time depositors grew by 3.6 times, unique active players increased by 96%, and new registered users were up 3.1 times compared with previous levels.

The group’s land-based operations also maintained solid momentum. Retail revenue advanced 10.2% during the second quarter, while first-half retail revenue finished 9.1% higher than a year earlier.

CIRSA also strengthened its financial position during the quarter by completing a €375m refinancing, reducing financial expenses by 40% and extending the maturity profile of its debt. Following the transaction, the company’s total net debt stood at €2.07bn.

Across its regional markets, Latin America remained the fastest-growing area, with revenue increasing 12.1% year-on-year. In Spain, CIRSA’s largest market, revenue rose 7.7%.

The company also expanded its international footprint through acquisitions. In Paraguay, CIRSA completed the purchase of Slots del Sol, the country’s leading online casino operator with an estimated 50% market share. The business has already shown strong performance, with average revenue per user increasing 66% and active players rising 57% since joining the group.

Meanwhile, CIRSA entered Portugal’s land-based casino market by acquiring Casino Figueira, its first casino property in the country. The acquisition is intended to support the company’s broader omnichannel strategy by combining retail and online operations.

With the World Cup concluding after the second quarter, CIRSA is expected to receive an additional boost in the third quarter as the full commercial impact of the tournament is reflected in its financial results, potentially extending its long-running growth streak beyond 72 consecutive quarters.
