Lithuania’s Online Gambling Revenue Jumps 25% as Digital Play Takes 78% Market Share

Lithuania’s gambling market continued its shift toward digital play in the first half of 2026, with remote gambling generating nearly four-fifths of total sector revenue.

Gross gaming revenue (GGR) reached €153.6 million during the six months to 30 June, an increase of 16.8% from €131.5 million in the same period last year. Lithuania’s Gambling Supervision Authority (LPT) said remote gambling was the main driver of the expansion.

Online operators generated €119.9 million in GGR, up approximately 25% year-on-year and equivalent to around 78% of the entire gambling market. By comparison, revenue from physical gambling locations fell 5% to €33.7 million.

Remote Category A slot machines remained Lithuania’s largest gambling product, producing €85.7 million in revenue, roughly one-third more than a year earlier. Online table games also expanded strongly, with GGR climbing 34% to €12.3 million.

Category B online slots moved in the opposite direction, with revenue dropping 63% to €424,800. Land-based table games were broadly stable at €7.7 million. The figures underline an accelerating change from Lithuania’s H1 2025 market, when online gambling generated €96.1 million and land-based operations produced €35.4 million.

Lottery activity also increased during the first half. Ticket turnover rose 8.6% to €87.7 million, while prize payouts climbed 10.5% to €49.3 million. That left lottery GGR at approximately €38.4 million.

The expansion also lifted government receipts. Gambling and lottery taxes generated €46.43 million for Lithuania’s state budget, 11.4% more than during H1 2025. Gambling operators contributed €30.67 million, while lottery businesses paid €15.76 million.

The results arrive as Lithuania continues tightening oversight of the sector. The government has proposed mandatory player cards from January 2029 as part of a wider system intended to link gambling activity to individual players and strengthen monitoring across online and land-based operators.
