MGM Resorts International and BetMGM are expanding their responsible gaming efforts during September with $320,000 in combined funding for research, support programs and problem gambling organizations.
The initiative forms part of the companies’ participation in Responsible Gaming Education Month 2026, an annual campaign led by the American Gaming Association to promote safer gambling practices and improve awareness of available player protection tools.
The funding will support research through the International Center for Responsible Gaming, while additional contributions will go toward state problem gambling councils and the 1-800-GAMBLER national helpline. MGM Resorts and BetMGM are also providing funding to the Evive Foundation, which offers digital support tools and peer-based resources for people affected by gambling-related harm.
The companies are combining those financial commitments with a wider expansion of their GameSense responsible gaming program. Originally developed by the British Columbia Lottery Corporation and licensed to MGM Resorts in 2017, GameSense focuses on practical information designed to help customers understand gambling risks and make informed decisions.
GameSense messaging will appear at a number of NFL and MLB venues during the campaign, while the program is being extended to additional professional sports locations in Las Vegas. T-Mobile Arena, home of the Vegas Golden Knights, and Michelob ULTRA Arena, home of the Las Vegas Aces, are among the new venues joining the initiative in 2026.
Other participating venues include Allegiant Stadium, MetLife Stadium, Acrisure Stadium, Arrowhead Stadium, Fenway Park, Nationals Park and several other major US sports grounds. Responsible gaming messages will appear on scoreboards and LED displays, including during pre-game periods.
MGM Resorts and BetMGM have also passed another milestone in their employee education program, with more than 3,000 workers now certified as GameSense Advisors. The training is available across more than 45 departments, extending beyond gaming operations into other areas of MGM’s resort business.
Throughout September, the companies will distribute additional responsible gaming information through digital channels, retail sportsbooks and MGM properties. BetMGM sportsbook customers will see reminders promoting time-out tools and QR codes directing them to responsible gaming resources, while MGM’s Las Vegas marquees will carry GameSense and American Gaming Association messaging.
The Responsible Gaming Education Month campaign will also include several separate projects. MGM Resorts is working with Carleton University on research involving casino employees and plans to operate educational booths with the Nevada Council on Problem Gambling at selected Las Vegas properties.
BetMGM, meanwhile, is continuing its partnership with EPIC Global Solutions to provide employees with sessions based on the experiences of people directly affected by problem gambling. Customers will also receive targeted responsible gaming emails, while MGM Resorts and BetMGM plan to conduct surveys examining customer and guest attitudes toward responsible play.
The expanded program places research, employee training, public messaging and direct support services under the same campaign as MGM Resorts and BetMGM increase their responsible gaming activity during one of the industry’s main annual awareness initiatives.
