The UK’s Gambling Commission is set for another leadership change after Tim Miller announced he will leave the regulator following 10 years of service as Executive Director for Policy and Enforcement.
Miller confirmed his departure in a LinkedIn post, describing his time at the Commission as the most rewarding stage of his professional career. He said he had always viewed a decade in the role as the right moment to pursue a new opportunity.
His exit comes during a significant period for Britain’s gambling sector, with the regulator continuing to roll out reforms outlined in the 2023 Gambling Act White Paper while the industry adjusts to wider regulatory changes and a revised tax framework introduced earlier this year.
Reflecting on his tenure, Miller thanked colleagues across the Commission, praising their commitment to effective regulation and consumer protection. He noted that working alongside dedicated professionals had made his time at the regulator especially meaningful.
During his leadership, Miller oversaw key areas including policy development, enforcement action and licensing. His departure follows several years of substantial regulatory change, with the Commission introducing stricter consumer protection measures, stronger affordability checks and tougher enforcement against operators that failed to meet compliance standards.
The Commission has not yet announced who will succeed Miller or provided a timeline for appointing a replacement. His departure adds to ongoing changes within the organisation as it continues implementing one of the biggest overhauls of UK gambling regulation in recent years.
