UK Prize Competition Industry Launches First Trade Body to Strengthen Standards

The UK prize competition sector has taken a major step towards greater organisation and oversight with the official launch of the Prize Competition Council (PCC), the industry’s first dedicated trade association.

The new organisation will represent more than 50 operators across the rapidly expanding prize competition market. Its main goals include promoting voluntary self-regulation, improving player protections, supporting responsible growth and maintaining dialogue with government bodies and regulators.

The PCC was formed after months of collaboration between industry stakeholders and will support the adoption of the Voluntary Code of Conduct for Prize Draw Operators. The code focuses on stronger consumer safeguards, transparency and responsible operating practices.

The launch comes at a time of increased attention on the sector. In 2025, the UK Gambling Commission reported hundreds of cases involving society lotteries presenting themselves as free draws or prize competitions, highlighting concerns around market standards and compliance.

The PCC has also confirmed its first Board of Directors, which will serve a two-year term and represent businesses of different sizes. The board is led by independent chair George McGregor and includes representatives from Winvia Entertainment, Jumbo Interactive UK, Pristine Competitions, Seven Days Performance, The GiveAway Guys, McKinney Competitions, Paragon Competitions and Two Fat Ladies Competitions.

The organisation aims to help operators navigate compliance requirements, provide guidance and training, and ensure smaller companies have a voice alongside larger industry players.

Founding member and outgoing PCC Director Jo Bucci welcomed the creation of the board, stating that it brings together a wide range of experience needed to guide the sector through future challenges, particularly around the implementation of the voluntary code.

The UK prize competition market has experienced significant growth in recent years, with operators offering paid-entry draws for prizes including cash, cars, homes and luxury goods. The PCC’s creation marks an effort by the sector to establish clearer standards while maintaining consumer confidence as participation continues to rise.
