Amanda Serrano Matches Historic Knockout Mark With Dominant Title Defence

Amanda Serrano added another milestone to her remarkable career after stopping Germany’s Cheyenne Hanson in the second round to equal the all-time record for knockout victories in women’s boxing.

The Puerto Rican star successfully defended her WBA and WBO featherweight world titles in El Paso, Texas, while recording the 32nd stoppage win of her professional career. That achievement draws her level with women’s boxing pioneer Christy Martin for the most knockout victories ever recorded by a female fighter.

Serrano took control from the opening bell, applying relentless pressure and landing clean combinations against Hanson. The challenger struggled to cope with the champion’s pace and power, and the contest was halted midway through the second round after a sustained barrage of unanswered punches forced the referee to intervene.

The victory improves Serrano’s professional record to 49 wins, four losses and one draw, with 32 of those wins coming inside the distance. Hanson entered the bout on a lengthy winning streak but was unable to trouble one of the most decorated fighters in the history of women’s boxing.

Already a seven-division world champion and holder of multiple records in the sport, Serrano now stands alone on the verge of another landmark achievement. One more stoppage victory would see her move past Martin and claim sole ownership of the women’s knockout record.

Speaking after the fight, Serrano made it clear that surpassing the record is now firmly in her sights as she continues to build one of the most accomplished resumes in boxing history.
