France international Ibrahima Konaté is in advanced discussions with Real Madrid over a free-transfer move following the end of his spell with Liverpool FC.
The 27-year-old centre-back is expected to leave Liverpool after contract negotiations failed to produce an agreement, making him one of the most sought-after defenders available this summer. Reports indicate that Real Madrid have intensified talks with the French defender as they look to strengthen their back line ahead of the new season.
Konate joined Liverpool from RB Leipzig in 2021 and became a key figure in the club’s defence. During his time at Anfield, he helped the Reds win the Premier League title, FA Cup and League Cup trophies while also reaching the UEFA Champions League final.
Real Madrid’s interest in the defender comes as the Spanish giants seek additional defensive depth after dealing with injuries and squad changes in recent seasons. The club views Konate’s physical presence, aerial ability and top-level experience as valuable assets for the future.
