Fenerbahce Push Ahead With €45m Move for Marseille Forward Mason Greenwood

Fenerbahce are increasingly optimistic about completing a deal to sign Marseille forward Mason Greenwood as the Turkish club steps up its summer transfer plans.

The Istanbul side believe an agreement could be reached for a fee of around €45m (£38.36m) for the 24-year-old, who has attracted interest from both Fenerbahce and Roma during the transfer window.

Greenwood has impressed since joining Marseille from Manchester United in July 2024 for £26.6m, scoring 48 goals in 76 appearances across all competitions. United are also set to benefit financially from any transfer after securing what was described at the time as a “sizeable sell-on fee”, reportedly worth around 40%.

Interest from Fenerbahce has been strong throughout the summer, with both candidates in the club’s presidential election publicly backing a move for the forward before the vote took place in early June.

Greenwood left Manchester United after the club conducted an internal investigation and decided he would continue his career elsewhere, despite criminal charges of attempted rape and assault being dropped in February 2023. He spent the 2023-24 campaign on loan at Getafe before making a permanent switch to Marseille.

The forward continued his strong form in France last season, finishing joint second in the 2025-26 Ligue 1 golden boot race with 16 goals, behind Rennes striker Esteban Lepaul.

Fenerbahce are looking to strengthen after finishing second in the Turkish Super Lig for a fifth consecutive season. The club will begin its Champions League qualification campaign later this month against Polish side Gornik Zabrze in the second qualifying round.
