Fulham have strengthened their squad by completing the signings of Gonzalo Garcia and Cesar Palacios from Real Madrid, with both Spanish players agreeing five-year contracts at Craven Cottage.
Garcia, 22, joins the Premier League side in a deal reported to be worth around £34 million. The striker enjoyed a breakthrough campaign with Real Madrid last season, making 39 appearances across all competitions and scoring eight goals. His impressive form also earned him his senior Spain debut in June.
The move sees Garcia reunited with Fulham head coach Alvaro Arbeloa, who previously worked with the forward during their time at Real Madrid.
Speaking after completing the transfer, Garcia expressed his excitement about the new challenge.
“I’m very grateful and very happy to be here. I want to thank the club’s board and Arbeloa for the confidence they’ve shown in me. I’m really looking forward to getting started,” he said.
Garcia arrives with a growing reputation after finishing as the joint-leading scorer at last summer’s Club World Cup, adding further promise to Fulham’s attacking options.
Joining him in west London is 21-year-old attacking midfielder Cesar Palacios, who has also signed a contract running until the summer of 2031. Fulham hold an option to extend the deals of both new arrivals by an additional year.
Palacios featured five times for Real Madrid’s senior team, with each appearance coming as a substitute, and has represented Spain at under-20 level.
The double signing continues Fulham’s summer recruitment as the club looks to build under Arbeloa with two highly regarded graduates from Real Madrid’s academy.
