Manchester City midfielder Tijjani Reijnders is closing in on a move to Saudi Pro League club Al-Qadsiah after the two sides agreed a deal worth £52m.
The Netherlands international is set to leave the Etihad Stadium only a year after arriving from AC Milan for £46.5m. His departure would allow City to recover more than their original investment despite a mixed first season in England.
Reijnders initially impressed after joining City but struggled to maintain that influence over the full campaign. He finished the season with seven goals from 47 appearances during Pep Guardiola’s final year in charge.
The 28-year-old trained separately from City’s main group on Thursday as negotiations over his transfer moved closer to completion. At Al-Qadsiah, he is expected to work under Brendan Rodgers, the former Liverpool, Celtic and Leicester City manager.
Reijnders’ proposed exit could be one of several changes to Manchester City’s midfield ahead of the new season. Rodri’s future remains uncertain, while City have also been linked with Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez as they consider further reinforcements.
Reijnders was also involved with the Netherlands at the 2026 World Cup. He featured three times during the tournament, starting the group-stage matches against Japan, Sweden and Tunisia.
He did not play in the last-32 clash with Morocco, where the Netherlands were eliminated following a penalty shootout.
A move to Al-Qadsiah would bring Reijnders’ short spell in Manchester to an end after just one campaign and give the Saudi club another high-profile addition to its squad.
