Lamine Yamal delivered another standout performance as Spain beat Croatia 4-1 in Seville, marking their first home appearance since lifting the World Cup in July.
The 19-year-old Barcelona forward scored twice and created another goal as Spain extended their unbeaten run to 40 matches. Rodri began the game on the bench and presented the World Cup trophy to the crowd before kick-off.
Yamal needed just 70 seconds to put Spain ahead, finishing confidently with his left foot. It continued his strong international form after he had also scored early in Spain’s 3-2 victory over England at Wembley on Saturday.
Croatia responded in the 28th minute. Ivan Perisic supplied the cross and Dion Beljo headed past the Spanish defence to bring the visitors level.
Spain restored their advantage only three minutes later. Yamal delivered an accurate cross into the area, allowing Marc Pubill to score with a powerful header.
Fermin Lopez came close to adding another before half-time when the Barcelona midfielder struck the woodwork, but Spain soon increased their lead after the break.
Yamal made it 3-1 by beating Croatia goalkeeper and Barcelona team-mate Dominik Livakovic at the near post, completing his second goal of the night.
Nico Williams then finished the scoring for the world champions. The Athletic Bilbao winger carried the ball forward before producing a composed finish to complete a convincing 4-1 victory.
Croatia had arrived in Seville after beating the Czech Republic 2-1 in Prague, but Spain’s attacking quality proved decisive as the World Cup holders maintained their long unbeaten streak.
