France Strike Four Late Goals to Overwhelm Belgium in Nations League

France produced a dramatic late comeback to beat Belgium 4-1 in the Nations League, scoring four times in the final 13 minutes as Zinedine Zidane extended his unbeaten start as national team coach.

Belgium had taken the lead through Dodi Lukebakio after Romeo Lavia opened up the French defence with a superb long-range through ball. Lukebakio raced clear and finished past debutant goalkeeper Guillaume Restes to put the visitors in control.

France continued to press for an equaliser and eventually broke through when Desire Doue fired a low effort from outside the penalty area beyond Maarten Vandevoordt, who was making his first appearance in goal for Belgium.

The momentum then shifted decisively in France’s favour. Substitute Rayan Cherki completed the turnaround after Michael Olise found him with a cutback inside the area.

Olise then took over the scoring himself, adding two late goals from assists by Doue to turn a tight contest into a comfortable victory.

The Bayern Munich attacker has now contributed to 17 France goals in 16 appearances during 2026, continuing an impressive run of form at international level.

The result keeps France top of Nations League Group A1 with 10 points from four matches. Belgium, managed by Mark van Bommel, remain third with six points.

Italy climbed into second place after beating Turkey 3-1 at home.

Gianluca Scamacca gave Roberto Mancini’s team the lead before Aral Simsir brought Turkey level. Riccardo Calafiori restored Italy’s advantage with a header, while Pio Esposito added a third to secure the victory.
