Alex Scott Turns Down Bournemouth Contract as Premier League Rivals Circle

Alex Scott has rejected Bournemouth’s offer of a new contract, increasing uncertainty over his future as several leading Premier League clubs monitor the midfielder.

Securing Scott on improved terms has been one of Bournemouth’s main priorities this summer, but the two sides have so far failed to reach an agreement. The 22-year-old still has two years remaining on the deal he signed after moving from Bristol City in 2023 for £25m.

Arsenal, Manchester United, Tottenham, Manchester City and Chelsea have all shown interest in the England Under-21 international. Bournemouth previously rebuffed an approach from Arsenal in June and remain reluctant to lose one of their most valuable young players.

Scott’s reputation has continued to grow following an impressive period on the south coast. He earned his first senior England call-up last November and later joined Thomas Tuchel’s expanded training squad in Florida before the World Cup, although he is still waiting to make his full international debut.

Interest in Scott comes during a summer of major spending on Premier League midfielders. Manchester City and Chelsea are expected to complete deals for Nottingham Forest’s Elliot Anderson and Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers, reportedly worth £116m and £117m respectively.

Tottenham have also invested heavily, paying £100m for Newcastle midfielder Sandro Tonali and £85m to sign Mateus Fernandes from West Ham.

Scott began his senior career with Guernsey FC before joining Bristol City in 2020. He made 91 appearances for the Championship club and was named the division’s young player of the season for 2022-23.

Since arriving at Bournemouth, Scott has featured 89 times and scored six goals. He was also part of the side that finished sixth under Andoni Iraola in the 2025-26 Premier League season, securing Europa League qualification for the first time in the club’s history.
