Arsenal Reach Final Stage of Bruno Guimaraes Transfer

Arsenal are on the verge of completing the signing of Newcastle United captain Bruno Guimaraes after reaching the final stages of negotiations with the Magpies.

The Premier League champions have made significant progress in talks over the past week, and the transfer is now expected to be completed once the remaining formalities are finished.

Guimaraes is currently with Newcastle’s squad at their pre-season training camp in La Manga, Spain, but is awaiting permission to leave and travel to London to finalise the move.

Arsenal are already preparing for the Brazil international’s medical, which is expected to take place later this week. While neither club has confirmed the financial details, the overall package is believed to be worth up to £80 million.

The 28-year-old midfielder has made it clear that he wants to join Mikel Arteta’s side, with Arsenal identifying him as their leading midfield target during the summer transfer window.

Guimaraes has been one of Newcastle’s standout performers since arriving from French club Lyon in January 2022, developing into one of the Premier League’s top central midfielders and eventually taking on the captain’s role.

Discussions between Arsenal and Newcastle have focused on the final contractual details, with all major aspects of the transfer now understood to be agreed. Barring any unexpected issues during the medical or paperwork process, Guimaraes is expected to become Arsenal’s latest high-profile addition ahead of the new Premier League season.
