bet365 has expanded its US footprint into Washington, D.C., launching its online sportsbook alongside a multi-year partnership covering three of the capital’s major professional sports teams.
The operator went live in the District on September 8, giving customers aged 18 and over access to betting markets across more than 100 sports, including pre-game, live and in-play wagering. Washington, D.C. becomes bet365’s 19th US market following its recent expansion into West Virginia.
The launch is supported by an agreement with Monumental Sports & Entertainment, making bet365 a partner of the NHL’s Washington Capitals, NBA’s Washington Wizards and WNBA’s Washington Mystics.
Under the deal, bet365 branding will appear across Monumental Sports Network programming and team broadcasts. The operator will receive virtual signage during Capitals games as well as advertising before and during broadcasts involving all three teams. bet365 will also serve as presenting sponsor of Monumental Game Center, a digital feature combining live game coverage with betting odds and interactive elements.
The company is promoting several of its established sportsbook features to D.C. customers, including its Early Payout Offer. Eligible NBA wagers can be settled as winners once a backed team establishes a 20-point lead, while the threshold is 18 points for qualifying WNBA bets and three goals for eligible NHL wagers, regardless of the eventual result.
Customers will also have access to the operator’s Early Bird Special, which provides a profit boost for Sunday NFL games shortly before the first game of the day begins. New customers in the District are being offered $50 in bonus bets after placing an eligible $10 wager.
The arrival of bet365 adds another operator to a Washington sports betting market that has changed significantly since regulatory reforms opened District-wide mobile wagering to additional private sportsbooks.
The Sports Wagering Amendment Act of 2024 expanded online betting permissions and introduced new licence categories and tax rates. D.C. officials said the competitive market included six online operators during fiscal 2025, when sports wagering generated approximately $801.9 million in handle and $84.3 million in gross gaming revenue. The District collected around $19.4 million in sports betting tax revenue, with online wagers accounting for 96% of betting activity.
For bet365, the Washington launch continues a broader North American expansion strategy. Beyond its growing US presence, the company operates in regulated Canadian markets including Ontario and Alberta.
