BetBlocker has expanded its responsible gambling support platform by adding Syrian Arabic to its list of supported languages, marking another step in the charity’s efforts to make gambling harm prevention tools more accessible worldwide.
The free self-exclusion software, which allows users to block access to gambling websites and apps across multiple devices, said the new language option was introduced in response to growing demand for support services in Arabic-speaking communities. Syrian Arabic is widely spoken across the Middle East and among diaspora populations globally.
The latest addition was made possible through a partnership with volunteer translators and supporters who helped localize the platform’s content and tools. BetBlocker noted that improving language accessibility is a major part of its long-term strategy to reach vulnerable users who may struggle to access responsible gambling resources in English or other major European languages.
Founder and trustee Duncan Garvie said the organization wants to remove as many barriers as possible for people seeking help with gambling-related harm. He explained that language limitations can often prevent users from engaging with support services, especially in regions where responsible gambling infrastructure remains limited.
BetBlocker currently offers support in dozens of languages and has continued expanding rapidly over the past year. The charity has focused on underserved markets and regions where gambling participation is growing but consumer protection tools remain less developed.
The software remains free to use and enables users to set self-exclusion periods ranging from short-term breaks to multi-year blocks. Once activated, the system prevents access to thousands of gambling websites and applications.
The organization said it plans to continue rolling out additional language options in the future as part of its broader international expansion strategy.
