Bournemouth have made it clear that Alex Scott will not be leaving the club this summer after rejecting an enquiry from Arsenal for the highly rated midfielder.
The Premier League champions are looking to strengthen their midfield ahead of the new season, with the 22-year-old emerging as one of several players under consideration. However, Bournemouth have informed Arsenal that Scott is not available for transfer.
The Cherries are determined to keep the former Bristol City star, who has become one of the club’s key young talents since arriving on the south coast. Rather than entertaining offers, Bournemouth are hoping to tie Scott down to a new contract. His current deal still has two years remaining.
Scott’s impressive performances also earned him international recognition. He received his first senior England call-up last November before being included in Thomas Tuchel’s extended pre-World Cup training camp in Florida, although he did not feature in a match.
Arsenal’s search for a new central midfielder continues, with Newcastle United duo Bruno Guimaraes and Sandro Tonali also among the club’s leading targets.
Of the two Newcastle players, Guimaraes is currently viewed as the more realistic option, while Tonali’s valuation is considered a significant obstacle. Tottenham Hotspur are also pushing to sign the Italy international and are increasingly confident of completing a deal.
The Gunners have additionally kept tabs on West Ham midfielder Mateus Fernandes and Lille youngster Ayyoub Bouaddi as they continue assessing options to strengthen their squad before the transfer window closes.
