Chelsea have rejected multiple approaches for promising defender Josh Acheampong, reinforcing their commitment to keeping one of the club’s most highly regarded academy graduates at Stamford Bridge.
The 20-year-old has emerged as one of Chelsea’s standout young talents and is considered a key part of the club’s long-term plans. Sources indicate Acheampong has been given “untouchable” status, meaning Chelsea have no intention of considering offers for the defender despite growing interest from several Premier League rivals.
That level of protection places him in the same category as some of Chelsea’s most important first-team players, including Joao Pedro, Cole Palmer and Moises Caicedo. The club believes Acheampong has the potential to become a major figure in the squad in the coming years.
Although the England Under-21 international featured in 17 Premier League matches last season, opportunities were somewhat limited, with nine of those appearances coming from the substitutes’ bench. Arsenal, Newcastle United and Crystal Palace are all understood to be monitoring developments, while AFC Bournemouth continue to hold an interest after first tracking the defender last summer.
