Chelsea Set Huge Price Tag as Enzo Fernandez Eyes Summer Exit

Chelsea are prepared to demand around £120m for midfielder Enzo Fernandez after the Argentina international indicated he wants to leave Stamford Bridge this summer.

The 25-year-old remains part of Chelsea’s long-term plans, but interest from several top European clubs has intensified following reports that Fernandez is open to a move away. Real Madrid are believed to be his preferred destination, while Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain have also been monitoring the situation.

Chelsea are reluctant to sell one of their key players, especially after investing more than £100m to sign Fernandez from Benfica in January 2023. However, sources close to the situation suggest the club would consider offers matching their valuation.

Contract discussions between Fernandez and Chelsea have reportedly failed to produce a breakthrough, adding further uncertainty over his future. The midfielder is said to be frustrated after Chelsea missed out on European competition next season, which has affected both sporting ambitions and bonus-related earnings.

Fernandez has been one of Chelsea’s most important players since arriving in England and still has several years remaining on his contract. Despite that, speculation over a possible transfer has continued to grow in recent months.

Real Madrid’s interest has been ongoing, although the Spanish giants are currently unwilling to meet Chelsea’s full asking price. Manchester City have also been linked, particularly because of Fernandez’s strong relationship with former Chelsea coach Enzo Maresca.

Chelsea’s new manager Xabi Alonso is understood to want Fernandez to stay, viewing him as a central figure in the club’s rebuilding plans ahead of next season.

The midfielder has made more than 150 appearances for Chelsea and remains a key player for Argentina heading into the upcoming World Cup campaign.
