Como Complete £30m-Plus Deal for Chelsea Defender Trevoh Chalobah

Como have completed the signing of England defender Trevoh Chalobah from Chelsea in a transfer that could exceed £30m.

The 27-year-old centre-back has agreed a five-year contract with Cesc Fabregas’ side, who are preparing for Champions League football after finishing fourth in Serie A last season.

Chelsea will receive an initial £25.7m for Chalobah, with another £5.1m potentially due through performance-related add-ons. The agreement brings an end to lengthy negotiations between the two clubs.

Chalobah’s departure also closes a chapter of almost two decades at Stamford Bridge. He joined Chelsea’s academy as a youngster and progressed through the club’s youth system before establishing himself in the senior squad.

The defender leaves after making 151 appearances across all competitions and collecting five major trophies during his time with Chelsea. His honours include the 2018 FA Cup and the 2025 Conference League.

Before becoming a regular member of Chelsea’s first team, Chalobah gained senior experience through loan spells at Ipswich Town, Huddersfield Town and French side Lorient. He later spent time with Crystal Palace as his opportunities at Chelsea changed.

Chalobah has also moved into the England senior setup, earning two international caps. He was subsequently added to the national team’s World Cup squad as a late replacement.

His arrival represents another significant addition for Como as the Italian club strengthen Fabregas’ squad ahead of their first Champions League campaign following last season’s fourth-place finish.

The move also reunites Chalobah with Fabregas, who crossed paths with the defender during the latter stages of the Spaniard’s playing career at Chelsea. Como view the England international’s experience and leadership as important qualities as they attempt to establish themselves among Serie A’s leading clubs and compete in Europe.
