Curtis Jones is closing in on a move to Inter Milan after Liverpool accepted a package worth up to €35m (£30m) for the midfielder.
The agreement will see Inter pay an initial €30m (£25.7m), with a further €5m (£4.3m) available through add-ons. Liverpool have also secured a 10% sell-on clause as part of the transfer.
Jones is expected to travel to Italy on Thursday to undergo a medical before completing the move.
Inter had already tried to sign the 25-year-old earlier in the summer, but Liverpool rejected an initial verbal proposal of €25m (£21.7m). At that stage, the Premier League club were seeking a fee closer to £35m for a player entering the final year of his contract.
Negotiations later progressed after Liverpool indicated that an offer around the level of the £30m package Inter paid Tottenham for Djed Spence could be enough to reach an agreement.
The Serie A champions had also shown interest in Jones during the January transfer window, when they explored a loan arrangement that could have led to a permanent deal. Liverpool chose not to pursue that proposal.
Jones leaves Anfield after spending most of his football career with the club. He joined Liverpool’s academy at nine years old and made his senior debut under Jurgen Klopp in 2019.
He has since accumulated 228 appearances for Liverpool across all competitions. During the 2025-26 campaign, Jones featured 49 times, although only 18 of those appearances came as Premier League starts as he struggled to establish himself as a regular in Arne Slot’s midfield.
With opportunities limited and his contract approaching its final season, Jones is understood to have been open to moving abroad in search of a more prominent role.
His expected arrival would further strengthen Inter’s growing English contingent. Jones is set to become the third English player to join the Italian champions this summer, following John Stones and Spence.
