England goalkeeper Jordan Pickford has admitted careless driving after an incident in Cheshire in which two motorists were forced to brake sharply to avoid a collision.
The 32-year-old Everton player was driving a blue Lamborghini Urus in Knutsford on 14 April when police said he failed to give way at a junction before accelerating away along Toft Road.
Court documents state that a Cheshire Police officer had just left the local station when he saw the Lamborghini enter Toft Road from Princess Street without stopping at the give way markings. Two vehicles were forced to brake heavily to avoid being hit.
The officer then activated his emergency lights and siren and followed the Lamborghini. He recorded his own speed at around 50mph while the car continued to pull away on a stretch of road with a 30mph limit.
Pickford later appeared to notice the police vehicle and pulled over.
He was subsequently prosecuted for driving without due care or attention and entered a guilty plea in writing at Warrington Magistrates’ Court. He has asked to attend court in person to present mitigation before sentencing.
The case was adjourned last week, with Pickford due to appear at Chester Magistrates’ Court on 7 December.
Pickford remains one of the most experienced players in the England squad. He has made 336 appearances for Everton and earned 92 international caps.
The goalkeeper began his career at Sunderland and spent time on loan with several clubs, including Burton Albion, Bradford City and Preston North End, before joining Everton.
At international level, he has represented England at the 2018, 2022 and 2026 World Cups and was the team’s first-choice goalkeeper during their runs to the European Championship finals in 2020 and 2024.
