Harry Kane reached another major milestone for Bayern Munich as his 150th goal for the club secured a narrow Bundesliga 2-1 victory over newly promoted Elversberg.
Bayern opened the scoring after 26 minutes when Ismael Saibari drove a low ball into the area. The delivery took a touch off Kane before falling perfectly for Lennart Karl, who finished from close range at the far post.
Elversberg, who have already made an impressive start to life in the Bundesliga with wins over Bayer Leverkusen and Borussia Monchengladbach, refused to fade away.
Maurice Krattenmacher brought the visitors level in the 61st minute with the standout goal of the game, curling a superb effort into the top corner from the edge of the penalty area.
Bayern eventually regained control through Kane. The England captain collected possession inside the box and powered a finish past goalkeeper Nicolas Kristof at the near post to restore the hosts’ advantage.
The goal was Kane’s first in the Bundesliga this season and his 99th in the competition from only 97 appearances. More significantly, it took him to 150 goals in 153 matches across all competitions for Bayern since his move from Tottenham in August 2023.
Kane, now 33, remains among the leading contenders for the 2026 Ballon d’Or ahead of the ceremony in London in October. His scoring record since arriving in Germany has been exceptional, with no player in Europe’s five major leagues managing more goals since the beginning of the 2023-24 season.
The striker has averaged a goal roughly every 79 minutes during that period and continues to close in on another Bundesliga record. Kane reached 50 league goals in just 43 appearances, the fastest any player has achieved the mark.
He now needs only one more Bundesliga goal to reach 100, with Dieter Muller’s record of 129 matches for a century firmly within reach.
The result leaves Bayern fourth in the Bundesliga after collecting two wins and a draw from their opening three matches. Elversberg, representing a town of around 13,000 people, sit sixth after an encouraging start to their first season in Germany’s top flight.
