SS Lazio has secured a new commercial partner for the next two Serie A seasons, signing kaiyunsports.news as its official sleeve sponsor shortly after the collapse of its planned main-shirt agreement with Polymarket.
The partnership will run throughout the 2026/27 and 2027/28 campaigns. The kaiyunsports.news branding will appear on the sleeve of Lazio’s men’s first-team shirts during official Serie A matches, while the two parties will also work together on digital campaigns, dedicated content and other fan-engagement initiatives.
Kaiyunsports.news presents itself as an international sports information platform covering football news, match updates and wider sporting content. The brand is linked to Kaiyun Sports, an Asia-focused betting and gaming business that has previously used sports-media partnerships to expand its visibility in European football.
The agreement gives Lazio a new shirt-based commercial partner following the premature termination of its high-profile sponsorship with prediction-market operator Polymarket.
Lazio and Polymarket agreed in August to end their partnership after regulatory action in Italy made the arrangement commercially unworkable. The original deal, announced earlier in 2026, was reportedly worth €22 million and was intended to restore a main front-of-shirt sponsor to Lazio after several seasons without one.
Italy’s Customs and Monopolies Agency, ADM, had treated Polymarket’s event-contract offering as unauthorised gambling and included the platform among websites subject to blocking measures. ADM’s July 2026 action targeted online gambling services operating without the required Italian authorisation.
That classification created a problem for Lazio because Italy maintains strict restrictions on gambling promotion. Article 9 of the 2018 Dignity Decree prohibits both direct and indirect advertising of gambling and betting products, with the restrictions also covering sponsorship arrangements.
Under the settlement between Lazio and Polymarket, the prediction-market company is still expected to pay the full contractual amount due for the 2026/27 season, reported at approximately €9.5 million. The parties also left open the possibility of reconsidering their relationship if Italy’s regulatory treatment of prediction markets changes.
The Kaiyunsports.news agreement does not directly replace Polymarket’s intended role. Polymarket had been lined up as Lazio’s principal shirt sponsor, while the new deal is limited to the sleeve position. Lazio therefore still has its primary front-of-shirt commercial space available.
The arrangement also reflects a broader sponsorship pattern in Italian football. With direct gambling advertising heavily restricted, some betting-linked businesses have developed sports-news, scores or entertainment brands that can enter commercial relationships with clubs without explicitly promoting wagering services.
For Lazio, the two-year Kaiyunsports.news deal restores part of the commercial inventory left open by the Polymarket separation while giving the new partner exposure throughout two Serie A campaigns.
