PAGCOR Orders Operators to Promote New National Gambling Helpline

The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) has instructed licensed gambling operators to actively promote the country’s newly launched National Problem Gambling Helpline as part of its ongoing push to strengthen responsible gaming measures.

The regulator recently introduced the 24/7 support service, designed to provide confidential assistance and counseling to individuals struggling with gambling-related issues, as well as their family members. The initiative was launched in partnership with Seagulls Flock Organization Inc. and forms part of PAGCOR’s broader player protection strategy.

Under the new directive, operators are required to display information about the helpline across their platforms and communication channels. PAGCOR aims to ensure that players can easily access professional support whenever gambling begins to negatively affect their lives.

PAGCOR Chairman and CEO Alejandro Tengco said the helpline reflects the regulator’s commitment to maintaining a gaming industry that is not only productive and well-regulated but also socially responsible. The service connects callers directly with trained counselors who can provide guidance and support around the clock.

The move follows a series of responsible gambling initiatives introduced by PAGCOR in recent months. The regulator has also tightened controls on gambling advertising, ordering the removal of outdoor gambling promotions and limiting future marketing activities to approved responsible gaming campaigns.

By expanding awareness of the new helpline, PAGCOR hopes to make support services more visible and accessible while reinforcing public confidence in the Philippine gaming sector. The regulator views the initiative as a key step in balancing industry growth with consumer protection and harm prevention.
