Paris FC Hand Liam Rosenior New Opportunity After Chelsea Exit

Liam Rosenior has made a swift return to management after being named the new head coach of Paris FC following his short spell at Chelsea.

The 41-year-old, who was dismissed by Chelsea in April after less than four months in charge, has signed a two-year deal with the Ligue 1 side. The agreement is also believed to include an option to extend his stay for an additional season.

Rosenior replaces Antoine Kombouare after Paris FC ended the previous campaign 11th in the French top flight. The club, backed by the Arnault family and with Red Bull holding a minority stake, is aiming to become a stronger force in French football.

Paris FC highlighted Rosenior’s experience, his record of developing young players and his preference for attacking football as key reasons behind the appointment.

The English coach previously enjoyed success in France with Strasbourg before taking over at Chelsea in January, replacing Enzo Maresca after the Italian’s disagreement with the club hierarchy.

Rosenior initially made a promising start at Stamford Bridge, but results quickly declined. His final weeks saw Chelsea lose five consecutive Premier League matches without scoring, leading to his departure.

Despite that difficult spell, his reputation remained strong thanks to his work at Strasbourg, where he guided one of Europe’s youngest squads to a seventh-place Ligue 1 finish and qualification for the UEFA Conference League.

Before moving abroad, Rosenior worked with Brighton’s Under-23 side, served as Wayne Rooney’s assistant at Derby County and later became interim manager. He then took charge of Hull City, improving the team before being dismissed after narrowly missing out on the Championship play-offs.

Chelsea have since appointed former Real Madrid and Bayer Leverkusen boss Xabi Alonso, making him the sixth permanent manager of the BlueCo era at Stamford Bridge.
