Raphinha scored a hat-trick as Barcelona swept aside Racing Santander 7-2 at the Nou Camp to extend their perfect start to the La Liga season.
The Brazilian forward has now reached 11 goals in all competitions, including nine in the league, after playing a central role in Barcelona’s sixth consecutive domestic victory.
Hansi Flick’s team have made a devastating start to their title defence. Barcelona have scored 33 times across their opening seven matches in all competitions, hitting at least five goals in five of those games.
Joao Cancelo set the tone after just eight minutes, curling a long-range effort into the net from around 20 yards. Barcelona doubled their advantage midway through the first half when Raphinha converted from the penalty spot.
Racing responded through Maguette Gueye, but the visitors’ hopes of building momentum quickly faded. Cancelo struck from distance again soon afterwards, with the ball taking a decisive deflection off Asier Villalibre before going in. The goal was later recorded as an own goal.
Raphinha then made it 4-1 with a low finish as Barcelona continued to dominate. They had the chance to add a fifth before the break, but Lamine Yamal’s penalty was kept out by goalkeeper Julen Agirrezabala.
Racing reduced the deficit again in the second half when Yassir Zabiri scored in the 65th minute. Their revival lasted only two minutes, however, as Barcelona were awarded another penalty.
Raphinha resumed spot-kick duties and converted to complete his hat-trick, continuing his outstanding individual start to the campaign.
Barcelona added two more goals late on. Yamal created the sixth for substitute Gabriel Jesus before getting on the scoresheet himself in the 89th minute.
The emphatic result keeps Barcelona perfect in La Liga and underlines the attacking form Flick’s side have carried into the opening weeks of the season.
