Stones Joins Inter Milan After Decade of Success at Manchester City

England international John Stones has completed a move to Serie A champions Inter Milan on a free transfer, signing a two-year contract after leaving Manchester City at the end of his deal.

The 32-year-old centre-back departed the Premier League side in June, bringing an end to a trophy-filled 10-year spell at the Etihad Stadium. Reflecting on his time with City, Stones said he had fulfilled all of his ambitions after helping the club enjoy one of the most successful eras in its history.

During his decade in Manchester, Stones made 295 appearances and scored 19 goals following his £47.5 million move from Everton in 2016. He played a key role in City’s dominance, winning six Premier League titles, the UEFA Champions League, two FA Cups, five League Cups, three Community Shields, the FIFA Club World Cup and the UEFA Super Cup.

Since becoming a free agent, Stones had been linked with several major European clubs, including Chelsea and Juventus, before choosing to continue his career in Italy with Inter.

The Nerazzurri secured their 21st Serie A title last season and will begin the defence of their league crown against newly promoted Monza on 22 August.

On the international stage, Stones has earned 93 England caps and was part of the squad that finished third at this summer’s FIFA World Cup. He started England’s quarter-final victory over Norway and the 2-1 semi-final defeat to Argentina.
