Tottenham completed a late double move from Chelsea on transfer deadline day, bringing in winger Mykhailo Mudryk on loan and signing centre-back Tosin Adarabioyo permanently.
Mudryk, 25, will spend the rest of the season in north London, with Spurs holding an option to buy him for £75 million. Adarabioyo, meanwhile, has joined in a deal that could rise to £12 million.
The move gives Mudryk another chance to work with Tottenham head coach Roberto De Zerbi, who previously managed the Ukrainian during their time together at Shakhtar Donetsk.
Mudryk arrives hoping to rebuild momentum after a long spell away from competitive football. He had not featured in an official match since November 2024 before resolving a doping case with the Football Association last month.
He returned to action during Chelsea’s pre-season programme in Australia and Asia, appearing in a friendly against Juventus in Hong Kong. However, he was subsequently left out of Xabi Alonso’s squads for Premier League wins over Fulham and Brighton, as well as the Carabao Cup victory against Luton.
Tottenham moved for Mudryk late in the window after missing out on other attacking targets. Spurs had explored deals for Iliman Ndiaye and Cody Gakpo, but Ndiaye ultimately joined Manchester City from Everton while a move for Liverpool forward Gakpo failed to materialise.
Chelsea had also held discussions with Leeds regarding Mudryk and turned down at least one proposal before Tottenham entered negotiations.
Mudryk leaves Stamford Bridge having recorded 10 goals and 11 assists across 73 appearances in all competitions. Tottenham will hope his pace and ability to attack defenders directly can add another dimension to De Zerbi’s forward line.
The pair already know each other well from their time in Ukraine, and De Zerbi will now be tasked with helping Mudryk rediscover the form that made him one of Europe’s most highly rated young attackers before his 2023 move to Chelsea.
Adarabioyo Adds Depth to Spurs Defence
Adarabioyo’s arrival continues an aggressive summer recruitment campaign for Tottenham. The 28-year-old becomes the club’s 10th signing of the window, with spending now exceeding £300 million.
The former England Under-19 defender joined Chelsea from Fulham in 2024 and went on to make 70 appearances for the club before completing his move across London.
His arrival also fills the space created by Kevin Danso’s departure, with the Austria international joining Sunderland on loan.
Adarabioyo brings Premier League experience and a profile suited to De Zerbi’s possession-based approach, giving Tottenham another established option in central defence as they prepare for the demands of the new season.
With Mudryk offering additional attacking pace and Adarabioyo strengthening the back line, Tottenham’s deadline-day business puts the finishing touches on one of the club’s busiest transfer windows in recent years.
