Trevoh Chalobah Set for Como After Chelsea Agree Transfer

Como have reached an agreement with Chelsea to sign defender Trevoh Chalobah in a transfer worth more than £30 million, with the England international set to begin a new chapter in Serie A.

The 27-year-old is expected to complete a long-term contract and become one of the senior figures in Cesc Fabregas’ squad after Como secured a Champions League place by finishing fourth in Serie A last season.

Chelsea will receive an initial payment of £25.7 million, while a further £5.1 million could be earned through performance-related add-ons. The final package comes close to the London club’s original valuation of £30 million plus £5 million in bonuses after negotiations that stretched back to early June. Inter Milan had also shown interest in signing the defender.

Fabregas had identified Chalobah as a priority target for more than six months, making the Chelsea academy graduate one of his main defensive objectives during the summer transfer window.

Chalobah now leaves the club where he spent almost two decades, having joined Chelsea’s youth system as a child before progressing into the first team and representing England at senior level.

The transfer is part of Chelsea’s wider plan to streamline Xabi Alonso’s squad ahead of the new season. Earlier this summer, the Blues strengthened their defence by signing Maxence Lacroix from Crystal Palace in a £52 million deal.

Despite Chalobah’s departure, Chelsea still have nine senior central defenders under contract, including Levi Colwill, Wesley Fofana, Tosin Adarabioyo, Josh Acheampong, Benoit Badiashile, Aaron Anselmino, Axel Disasi and Mamadou Sarr.

The club is continuing to reshape its defensive options, with Disasi and Badiashile available for transfer, while Sarr or Acheampong could leave on loan, potentially remaining in the Premier League.
