Tyson Fury has fuelled speculation over another comeback after hinting at a return to the ring in Dublin on 1 August.
The former two-time heavyweight world champion posted a training video from Thailand on social media with the caption: “Let’s go August 1, Dublin, Ireland.”
Fury’s promoter Frank Warren is already scheduled to host a boxing event at Dublin’s 3Arena on that date, headlined by Pierce O’Leary defending his IBO light-welterweight title against Mark Chamberlain. However, there has been no official confirmation yet that Fury will appear on the card.
A summer return could act as a stepping stone toward a long-awaited showdown with Anthony Joshua, which is expected to take place in 2026.
Joshua is due to make his own comeback on 26 July when he faces Albanian heavyweight Kristian Prenga. The bout will be Joshua’s first since the tragic car crash in Nigeria last December that claimed the lives of two of his friends.
Talk of a blockbuster clash between Fury and Joshua intensified earlier this year after Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn revealed that the former Olympic champion had signed a deal to fight Fury.
The announcement followed Fury’s successful comeback from a 15-month retirement. The 37-year-old returned to action with a points victory over Russia’s Arslanbek Makhmudov at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Moments after that win, Fury turned his attention directly to Joshua, who was watching from ringside. The pair exchanged words as Fury attempted to lure his British rival into the ring, adding even more anticipation around a future heavyweight showdown.
