Bet365 Expands Into France and Alberta After Securing New Licenses

Bet365 has taken another major step in its international expansion plans after receiving regulatory approval to operate in both France and Alberta, Canada.

The global betting giant has been granted licenses by France’s Autorité Nationale des Jeux (ANJ) and Alberta’s gaming regulator ahead of the province’s regulated market launch later this summer. The approvals arrive at a crucial moment for the operator as the sports calendar builds toward the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

France is expected to become one of bet365’s key European targets, especially with high-profile events such as Roland-Garros and the Tour de France already driving betting activity across the country. The company plans to introduce several of its flagship features to French customers, including Match Live, Cash Out, Bet Tracker and Sub On Play On.

Bet365 Global Chief Marketing Officer Alex Sefton said the company’s international strategy focuses on combining global technology and experience with an understanding of local markets and player preferences. He added that the operator aims to deliver a strong launch while fully complying with French regulations.

The operator is also preparing to expand its product offering in France over time, with horse racing and poker expected to follow after the initial rollout.

In Canada, bet365 has secured approval ahead of Alberta’s regulated iGaming market opening on July 13, 2026. The province is set to become Canada’s second fully regulated online gaming market after Ontario, attracting several international operators looking to establish an early presence.

The timing could work in bet365’s favor, as the market launch will coincide with the closing stages of the FIFA World Cup, giving the company an opportunity to capitalize on one of the biggest betting events in global sports.

Alberta regulators are expected to welcome dozens of operators and suppliers as competition intensifies ahead of the market opening. Several gaming companies have already confirmed expansion plans for the province in recent weeks.
