Hollywoodbets has expanded its South African sportsbook with a dedicated esports betting offering after striking a technology partnership with specialist supplier DATA.BET.
The agreement gives Hollywoodbets access to DATA.BET’s full esports betting ecosystem, including an embedded sportsbook interface, odds feeds, bet builder functionality, live widgets, streaming and fully managed trading and risk services. The launch marks a significant expansion of Hollywoodbets’ digital betting portfolio into competitive gaming.
Under the partnership, customers will be able to bet across more than 770 markets covering over 30 esports disciplines. DATA.BET says its package provides access to more than 10,000 esports events each month, spanning major titles such as Counter-Strike 2, Dota 2, Valorant, League of Legends and Rainbow Six.
The supplier’s technology is designed to combine pre-match and live wagering with statistics, video streaming and real-time market updates in a single interface. DATA.BET also handles trading and risk management on behalf of Hollywoodbets, reducing the amount of infrastructure the operator needs to build internally.
For Hollywoodbets, the agreement represents a broader attempt to diversify its sportsbook beyond traditional sports and respond to growing consumer interest in competitive gaming. The operator already has a large presence in South Africa across sports betting, horse racing and online gaming, but esports now becomes a more prominent part of its product mix.
DATA.BET described the Hollywoodbets agreement as an important step in its expansion across Africa. The company currently provides sportsbook technology across sports, esports and virtual competitions and says its wider platform processes more than 92,000 monthly events across over 100 disciplines. Its esports product alone covers more than 30 competitive gaming titles.
The timing also coincides with a busy period for international esports. DATA.BET is currently providing coverage across every title featured at the 2026 Esports World Cup, which includes 24 games and 25 tournaments with a combined prize pool of $75 million.
Hollywoodbets said the addition of esports reflects its strategy of continuously expanding its betting offer and giving customers access to more live content, statistics and wagering options.
The partnership places the operator in a stronger position to compete for esports bettors in South Africa, while giving DATA.BET another major operator partner as it targets further growth in African regulated betting markets.
