Live casino supplier Avanti Studios has appointed former Klarna executive Jonas Ericson as chief financial officer as the company strengthens its leadership team for its next phase of international expansion.
Ericson joins Avanti after more than six years at Swedish payments group Klarna, where he most recently served as global head of finance. During his tenure, he worked across financial strategy, operational development, new products, accounting and M&A, building experience in supporting businesses operating across multiple markets.
Before joining Klarna in 2020, Ericson spent almost three years as CFO of Swedish fashion and footwear company Eytys. Earlier in his career, he was group business controller at post-production company The Chimney Pot and held financial analyst and controller positions at Nordea. He also studied accounting and financial management at the Stockholm School of Economics.
Avanti said the appointment is intended to add greater financial and operational expertise as the company expands its commercial presence across regulated iGaming markets. Co-founder Gustaf Hagman highlighted Ericson’s experience in product implementation, strategic development and senior management as particularly relevant to the supplier’s growth plans.
Ericson said the move from an established global business such as Klarna to a younger live casino company represented a significant career decision, but pointed to Avanti’s technology and growth potential as key reasons for joining. His remit will include supporting profitability and the company’s wider international expansion.
The appointment comes several months after Stockholm-based Avanti completed a second €5 million seed round, taking its total seed funding to €10 million. The round closed on May 19 and was oversubscribed, with existing investor Genting Casinos UK participating again.
Avanti is developing live casino products using motion-capture technology, digitally rendered dealers and real-time streaming, positioning the model as a more scalable alternative to conventional live casino studios. Its commercial expansion has included agreements involving bet365 and Entain in Spain, while a multi-market distribution partnership with Light & Wonder is supporting wider deployment, including regulated markets such as Spain and Brazil.
The addition of Ericson follows Avanti’s broader effort to build out its senior team as it moves from product development and fundraising toward larger-scale commercial operations.
