DAZN has appointed experienced sports and betting finance executive Alex Gersh as its new chief financial officer as part of a broader overhaul of the sports entertainment group’s senior leadership.
Gersh succeeds Darren Waterman, who has moved into the newly created position of chief business officer, while former Foxtel Group chief executive Patrick Delany has been named chief operating officer. All three executives will report directly to DAZN Group CEO Shay Segev, with the appointments taking effect immediately.
The changes come as DAZN looks to build on the financial progress made during 2025, when the company says it reached profitability for the first time. The group has also expanded significantly through major sports-rights agreements, international growth and its acquisition of Australian broadcaster Foxtel.
Gersh Brings Betting and Public-Market Experience
Gersh joins DAZN with more than 25 years of financial leadership experience spanning sports, betting, technology and telecommunications.
His previous roles include serving as CFO of sports data and technology company Sportradar, where he helped lead the business through its Nasdaq listing. Before that, Gersh was CFO of betting exchange Betfair and remained in a senior finance role at Paddy Power Betfair following the companies’ merger.
At DAZN, Gersh will oversee areas including financial strategy, capital allocation, group performance and longer-term value creation as the business focuses on maintaining profitable growth.
Waterman, meanwhile, is shifting away from the CFO position he has held since 2022. In his new role as chief business officer, he will focus on commercial partnerships, distribution agreements, corporate transactions and other strategic opportunities across the group.
DAZN credited Waterman with playing an important role in guiding the company through its recent expansion and helping establish the financial base that supported its move into profitability.
Delany Takes Control of Group Operations
Patrick Delany’s appointment gives the former Foxtel boss responsibility for DAZN’s global day-to-day operations.
His remit includes subscriber and revenue growth, pricing and product packaging, sports-rights renewals, relationships with rights holders, content production, advertising and sponsorship. Delany previously led Foxtel from 2018 and oversaw its integration into DAZN following the acquisition completed in 2025.
DAZN said the Foxtel integration resulted in the creation of DAZN Australia, whose products now reach around half of Australian households.
The company is also changing its leadership in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Alice Mascia is due to leave DAZN at the end of 2026 after four years leading the DACH business. Felix Krause has returned as deputy CEO for the region and is scheduled to become DACH CEO on January 1, 2027.
DAZN Expands Beyond Traditional Sports Streaming
The executive changes arrive as DAZN continues to broaden its business beyond conventional live sports broadcasting.
In January 2026, the company announced a partnership with Polymarket designed to integrate prediction-market features and real-time market data into the DAZN platform. The agreement was part of DAZN’s strategy to make live sports viewing more interactive and give users additional ways to engage with events.
DAZN later expanded its prediction-market activities through a global partnership with ADI Predictstreet, FIFA’s official prediction market partner for the 2026 World Cup.
A free-to-play ADI Predictstreet experience was launched on DAZN in June, allowing users to make real-time sports predictions, compete on leaderboards and earn rewards without spending real money. DAZN said the product would initially use the World Cup as a major launch platform before expanding across other competitions in its sports portfolio.
The combination of new senior appointments, the Foxtel integration and DAZN’s push into interactive sports products reflects the company’s attempt to turn recent financial progress into sustained global growth.
