Entain has confirmed that Charlotte Emery is leaving her role as chief marketing officer for its UK business, bringing her two-year tenure with the gambling group’s flagship British brands to an end.
The company said Emery’s departure was agreed mutually and that recruitment is already underway to find her successor. The incoming executive will take responsibility for marketing strategy, media planning and brand development across Ladbrokes, Coral, Gala and Foxy Bingo.
Emery joined Entain in June 2024 after previously working as an independent marketing consultant and holding senior brand leadership roles within the gambling industry. During her time at the FTSE-listed operator, she helped oversee several high-profile initiatives, including major marketing campaigns for Ladbrokes and Coral, a partnership involving Ladbrokes, and a comprehensive review of the company’s agency roster. One of the most significant outcomes was the appointment of PHD as Entain’s media buying agency for its UK and Ireland brands, replacing the previous incumbent, while Atomic London was selected as Ladbrokes’ lead creative agency.
Bejay Patel, managing director for Entain UK and Ireland, thanked Emery for her contribution, saying she had played an important role in the continued development of the company’s UK-facing brands over the past two years and wished her success in the future.
The leadership change comes during a broader period of transformation for Entain. Last week, the operator confirmed plans to eliminate around 500 jobs across the business as part of a cost-efficiency programme led by recently appointed chief financial officer Michael Snape. The company has said the restructuring is intended to create a leaner and more agile organisation rather than being a direct response to changes in the UK’s gambling tax regime, although the wider industry continues to face increasing regulatory and cost pressures.
Entain has not yet announced when a new UK chief marketing officer will be appointed.
