Boa Lion Eyes Bingão do Brasil Deal to Boost Brazilian Growth

Boa Lion, the Brazilian joint venture created by MGM Resorts International and Grupo Globo, has announced plans to acquire online bingo game developer Bingão do Brasil as it continues to strengthen its position in the country’s rapidly growing regulated gambling market. The proposed transaction is currently awaiting regulatory approval from Brazil’s competition authority, CADE.

According to filings submitted to Brazilian authorities, Boa Lion intends to purchase 100% of Bingão do Brasil. Financial details of the deal have not been disclosed. The acquisition remains subject to a competition review before it can be finalized.

Bingão do Brasil is focused on developing online video bingo products and has not yet launched commercial operations. Rather than operating a betting platform, the company specializes in creating bingo content that could eventually be integrated into larger gambling offerings.

The company’s investor group includes L.Eva Participações, whose partners include Brazilian television personality Luciano Huck. Other stakeholders include investment firms Pipa Ventures, FIP AJL II Multiestrategia, and businessman Antonio Gouvea Vieira Filho.

For Boa Lion, the acquisition represents another step in building its Brazilian business around the BetMGM brand. The venture launched BetMGM Brazil in 2025 after securing federal authorization from Brazil’s Secretariat of Prizes and Betting. The platform currently offers sports betting, online casino games, live casino products, and bingo content tailored to local players.

MGM and Grupo Globo first announced their partnership in 2024 ahead of the opening of Brazil’s regulated online betting market. The venture combines MGM’s gaming technology and international brand portfolio with Globo’s extensive reach across Brazilian media, sports, and entertainment. The operation also utilizes technology from LeoVegas and is based in São Paulo.

MGM Resorts CEO Bill Hornbuckle has previously stated that the company aims to capture around 10% of Brazil’s online gambling market. The addition of Bingão do Brasil could help support that ambition by bringing a locally recognizable bingo product into BetMGM’s expanding portfolio.

Brazil officially launched its regulated online betting framework on January 1, 2025, attracting major international operators eager to establish a presence in one of the world’s most promising gaming markets. If approved, the Bingão do Brasil acquisition would further strengthen Boa Lion’s position as competition in the sector continues to intensify.
