Brazilian betting operator Esportes da Sorte has strengthened its position in the country’s regulated gambling market by acquiring Apostou.com, the company behind BETBR Loterias. The deal also brings the B1BET and BRBET brands into the Esportes da Sorte portfolio, further expanding the group’s presence across Brazil.
BETBR Loterias holds a licence issued by Brazil’s Secretariat of Prizes and Betting (SPA) and has established operations in the state of Paraná. The acquisition follows a wave of consolidation in Brazil’s rapidly growing regulated betting sector, where larger operators are increasingly pursuing smaller licensed businesses.
The Brazilian regulated betting market has continued to attract significant investment. During the first five months of 2026, regulated operators generated almost BRL6 billion (approximately $1.2 billion) in tax revenue through the 12% levy on gross gaming revenue alongside corporate taxes, making Brazil one of the world’s largest betting markets.
Esportes da Sorte already operates the Esportes da Sorte, Lottu and Onabet brands. Before obtaining its federal SPA licence, the company had also acquired a controlling stake in ST Soft Desenvolvimento de Programas de Computadores Ltda., another business linked to the Apostou brand through a licence granted by Loterj.
The group’s national licence has been in place since 2025, and its brands continue to perform strongly. According to Blask’s first-quarter 2026 rankings, Esportes da Sorte ranks sixth among Brazil’s betting operators, while Onabet sits in tenth place.
The latest acquisition is currently under review by Brazil’s Administrative Council for Economic Defense (CADE), with the transaction being led by HS Gaming Participações, a subsidiary of Esportes Gaming Brasil.
The purchase reflects a broader trend of mergers and acquisitions across Brazil’s betting industry. Recent deals include Flutter Entertainment’s acquisition of a controlling stake in Betnacional, while ANA Gaming has expanded its portfolio by acquiring Aposta Tudo after previously adding Donald Bet and Ponto Bet to its business.
