Sands China Appoints Former MGM China Executive Hubert Wang as COO

Sands China has strengthened its leadership team with the appointment of industry veteran Hubert Wang as its new Chief Operating Officer, bringing nearly three decades of experience in gaming and integrated resort management to the company.

Wang, who previously served as president and COO of MGM China, will officially take up his new position on June 1. His appointment was confirmed through an internal memo issued by Sands China President and CEO Grant Chum.

In his new role, Wang will join the company’s Executive Committee and oversee a broad portfolio that includes casino and resort operations, market development, international marketing, loyalty programs, strategic analysis, and hospitality activities across the operator’s Macau properties.

Wang departed MGM China in December 2025 after a 14-year tenure with the company. During his time there, he played a key role in major corporate milestones, including the company’s IPO, the expansion of MGM Macau, the launch of MGM Cotai, and the operator’s navigation through the pandemic and subsequent recovery period in Macau.

Although best known for his leadership at MGM China, Wang is no stranger to Sands. Earlier in his career, he was part of the opening teams behind The Venetian Macao in 2007 and Singapore’s Marina Bay Sands in 2010. He also held positions with major gaming companies in the United States, including Las Vegas Sands, Caesars Entertainment, and Penn National.

Grant Chum described Wang’s arrival as an important addition to the senior management team as Sands China continues to focus on strengthening its position in Macau’s competitive integrated resort market. The company expects his extensive operational and strategic expertise to support its long-term growth ambitions and ongoing investment in premium guest experiences.
