Stake Secures Buenos Aires Licence as LatAm Growth Strategy Accelerates

Crypto-focused betting and gaming operator Stake has secured a licence to operate in Argentina’s Province of Buenos Aires, marking another step in its rapid expansion across Latin America ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The company will launch its online casino and sportsbook through stake.bet.ar after receiving approval from the Provincial Institute of Lottery and Casinos (IPLyC), the regulator responsible for gambling activities in Buenos Aires Province. The region is Argentina’s most populous province, home to more than 17 million residents and one of the country’s strongest economies.

The move follows Stake’s recent entry into Mexico and adds another regulated market to its growing Latin American portfolio. Over the past 18 months, the operator has expanded its presence across key jurisdictions including Brazil, Colombia, Peru and Mexico, with Argentina now joining that list.

Players in Buenos Aires Province will gain access to Stake’s sportsbook and casino products, which have been adapted for local audiences and mobile-first users. The company sees the launch as part of a broader strategy to strengthen its position in regulated markets throughout the region.

Diana Otalora, Stake’s General Manager for Latin America, described Argentina as a key market with strong long-term potential. She highlighted the country’s deep sporting culture, digitally connected population and growing online gaming sector as important factors behind the decision to enter the province.

Stake has been actively building its brand across Latin America through market launches, partnerships and sponsorships. The operator already works with former Argentina and Manchester City striker Sergio Agüero as a brand ambassador, a relationship expected to support its growth in one of football’s most passionate nations.

The Buenos Aires approval further strengthens Stake’s position in a region widely viewed as one of the fastest-growing opportunities for online betting and gaming operators.
