UK sportsbook and casino operator Midnite has appointed former FanDuel executive Dale Tang as general manager for Canada, putting an experienced local industry figure in charge of its planned entry into the Canadian market.
Tang joins Midnite after five years with FanDuel, where he played a role in developing the operator’s Canadian business and its expansion into Ontario. His latest position was senior director of Canada commercial, analytics and retention. Before FanDuel, he spent more than three years at Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation, including a period as director of strategy development.
The appointment marks another step in Midnite’s international growth strategy. Tang will be based in Toronto and will oversee the development of the company’s Canadian operation as it prepares to move beyond its established UK business. Midnite is expected to focus initially on Ontario while also considering opportunities in other Canadian provinces as regulated online gambling markets develop.
Ontario has operated a competitive regulated online gambling market since April 4, 2022, allowing approved private operators to offer sports betting and casino products after registering with the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario and entering agreements with iGaming Ontario.
Tang described the move as an opportunity to build another Canadian gambling operation from an early stage after helping FanDuel establish its presence in the country. His experience across both commercial operations and Ontario’s provincial gaming sector gives Midnite a senior hire familiar with the regulatory and competitive environment it intends to enter.
The Canadian expansion follows Midnite’s $35 million Series C funding round completed in January 2026. The investment was led by Raine Partners IV, with Play Ventures, Discerning Capital, Makers Fund and Big Bets also participating. The round lifted Midnite’s total equity funding above $75 million, with the company saying the capital would support product development, operational scaling and international expansion.
Founded by Nick Wright and Daniel Qu, Midnite has built its business around proprietary betting technology and currently offers sportsbook, casino and horse racing products. The appointment of Tang gives the company a dedicated Canadian leadership presence as it prepares its first major expansion outside the UK.
