Scientific Games has secured a new contract with Western Canada Lottery Corporation (WCLC) to overhaul lottery retail technology across more than 5,000 locations in Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba.
The agreement will introduce Scientific Games’ next-generation retail ecosystem, including WAVE point-of-sale terminals, PlayCentral self-service kiosks and updated retailer terminal software. The PlayCentral kiosks incorporate artificial intelligence and advanced analytics intended to improve transaction efficiency and the customer experience.
The rollout forms part of WCLC’s wider effort to modernize its retail operations and strengthen the performance of its physical sales network. The corporation also serves Yukon, the Northwest Territories and Nunavut through associate-member arrangements.
Scientific Games said its retail systems and terminals are now deployed by more than 70 lotteries worldwide, including three Canadian operators. The supplier has recently completed other large-scale lottery technology projects across Canada, the United States, Europe, the UK and New Zealand.
The latest agreement expands a relationship between the companies dating back to 1999. Scientific Games already provides WCLC with its central gaming system and sports wagering technology, and it has also been selected to supply an iLottery solution. The companies previously worked together to introduce expanded sports betting options in Western Canada following the legalization of single-event wagering.
The retail upgrade comes after a strong financial year for WCLC. Sales exceeded C$1.56 billion in 2025, representing the second-highest annual total in the corporation’s history. More than C$481 million was returned to WCLC members during the period.
For Scientific Games, the new contract further expands its position in lottery retail technology while deepening a partnership with WCLC that now spans retail, sports betting, central systems and digital lottery operations.
